Brexit and the Unity of the UK

While a majority of voters in England and in Wales voted to leave the EU, in both Scotland and Northern Ireland a majority voted to remain. This has added an extra dimension to the debates about Scottish independence and Irish reunification, not least as leaving the UK might enable Scotland and Northern Ireland to maintain their membership of the EU.
